Description: |
1962P30 A Female Figure Raising a Bow in her left Hand, 1757-95 By Chevalier Lupino* *It has proved impossible to identify with any certainty the artist of this design. There were several people with the name Lupino who have been associated with various London theatres. The drawing is inscribed 'Ballet de la Reconnoissence'. Although it is difficult to say much with confidence about the artist , it is clear that the present sheet shows the kind of costume which would have been seen on the London operatic and ballet stage during the period 1780-1800. |
