Silver Salt Cellar (one of two), 1777-78

One of a pair of oval silver salts with gilt interior. Double loop handles rise from heavy leaf casting. Ribbon-tied reeded rim above husk swags and rosettes. The base gadrooned with a central floral button. Engraved with a crest - a unicorn's head issuan from a crown, possilby for Robert Jocelyn, Earl of Roden.
