The wood-engraving, which is represented in the British Museum, was executed by Joseph Swain and appeared in 'Once a Week' on 5th November, 1859. The relevant lines of the poem are as follows: Take my share of a fickle heart, Mine of a paltry love: Take it, or leave it, as you will, I wash my hands thereof. |
