Collecting Birmingham
Collecting Birmingham was a Birmingham Museum three year (2015-2018) project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) through the ‘Collecting Cultures’ program. The project’s theme was ‘Growing up, living and working in Birmingham’. It was an innovative consultation and community- focused collecting programme targeting people who lived, worked or experienced the Ladywood district. 1801 new items for BMT’s collection were acquired by purchase or donation, as a result of consultation with communities, artists, curators and expert professionals. A number of oral histories were also collected.
